What we store when you run a test

• Speed measurements: download, upload, ping, jitter, confidence intervals, stability, data used and quality flags.
• Your network provider’s name and network number (ASN), and an approximate city and country, as reported for your connection.
• Your device type (mobile or desktop), time zone and interface language.
• The room label and plan speed, only if you entered them.
• A salted SHA-256 hash of your IP address, used to prevent abuse. The raw IP address is never stored.

What stays on your device

Your history, plan speed, room labels and preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage. Clearing your browser data removes them. The PDF complaint report is created in your browser.

Contact messages

If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address and message so we can reply.

Cookies

• A theme preference cookie (light, dark or system).
• Session cookies for administrators who sign in to the admin panel.
• Advertising cookies from Google AdSense only if AdSense is enabled and you accept them. Without consent, only non-personalised ads are requested.

Third parties

Tests run against Cloudflare’s network (or SpeedLens’s own test servers), which process the test traffic. We switch off Cloudflare’s result logging. No ads or analytics scripts load while a test is running.

How long we keep data

Saved test results are deleted after 12 months, contact messages after 24 months, and sign-in logs after 90 days. Aggregated statistics that cannot identify anyone may be kept longer.

Your choices

You can clear your on-device history at any time from the History page. To ask about data we hold, use the contact page; because we don’t store raw IP addresses, we may not be able to link a result to you.
